Dr Nicole Hodgson

Eco-biographer and writer

I am a writer, environmentalist and university lecturer living in Denmark, Western Australia. I have worked in sustainability, environmental and social policy areas in Local Government, State Government and Non-Government sectors (including Gondwana Link!). For nearly twenty years I have also lectured (part-time) in sustainability at Murdoch University.

My focus is now mostly on creative forms of writing and environmental story-telling. I have recently completed a PhD in Environmental Humanities at UWA, combining environmental history, ecobiography, and life writing in telling the story of settler-colonist and botanical collector Sarah Brooks.

In 2026 I received a Dahl Fellowship with Eucalypts Australia, to develop audio stories on six Eucalypt species across the Gondwana Link; exploring connections between plants and humans.

When not in front of a computer I can usually be found swimming in the ocean, camping or walking in the bush or in the garden.
