Jean-Michel Maujean
Sound artist and composer, Kwoorabup/Denmark
Jean‑Michel Maujean lives in Kwoorabup/Denmark, Western Australia. His work is grounded in deep listening and careful fieldwork, recording the songs of Western Australian birds and natural sounds in fragile landscapes. He translates these experiences into layered, immersive compositions that evoke the fragility, resilience, and presence of the landscapes he traverses.
Jean‑Michel has worked as a sound designer for projects including ‘The Stars Descend’ and ‘By Are The Eyes’. His work reflects a strong interest in conservation and a commitment to fully understanding the environments he engages with. He works extensively in the area of sound, and most recently has contributed to ‘One Thousand Kilometres of Hope’, a sound and visual collaboration exploring the Gondwana Link with artist partner Carly Le Cerf.
