Pemberton Hiking and Canoeing

Overview

Andy Russell established this ‘active tourism’ business in 1994 as an awareness-raising adjunct to his forest campaign work. He says, “What started out as a way to save the forests and rivers ended up turning my recreation and philosophy into a job”.

As good-natured as he is passionate, Andy is a knowledgeable guide and great storyteller. The experience leaves an indelible impression on participants, who report, “The scenery is to die for” and “110% recommended”. The canoeing is also readily accessible for all ages: “A very relaxing and cruisy tour, no experience or hard work required”.

The Warren River in Warren River National Park is a magnificent place to explore by canoe, offering river-centric views of the majestic karri forest, birds and wildflowers, or, if choosing a night tour, an incomparable paddle under starry night skies. By day or night, a canoe-view is a perfect way to appreciate this natural wonderland.

Note that if this is on your bucket list, act quickly, as Andy is soon to hang up his commercial paddles, after nearly three decades of leading adventure tours.
